My mum louise is from a small town in ireland called letterkenny.
She lived in a middle class bungalow with her three siblings and
her parents. Her family were very catholic, this gave her faith
and belief. As a kid she played lots of sports like basketball,
volleyball, hurling and athletics.she finished highschool and went
to uni. Her and my dad met at a wedding in Ireland and fell in love.
She decided to move back to NZ with my Dad in 1998 via plane.
They then had me and my four siblings. She enjoys it here especially
the weather but she does miss Ireland very much
My nana Marrise is from Treherbert in Wales. In Wales she enjoyed
horse riding, readning and clubbing. She grew up in an ordinary house
with her sister Liz and her parents. She liked to dance and listen to
the beatles. She has memories of her grandparents and how they were
loving and caring and couldn't speak english. She was in Cardiff and so
was my grandad as his navy boat was docked there for a period
. They then fell in love and my Nana moved to NZ by boat in 1969
. She then went on to have Two kids Christopher and Gareth (my Dad)
.
My Great Grandma Pat was not born overseas but her parents and two sisters
came here from England n the early 1900's
.Her father (Henry Roberts) was and anglican vicar
in Wiltshire. During World War 1 he went to fence as a feils padre.
They were in the diocese of Port Chalmers in the south island.
Grandma Pat was 14 years younger than her sisters and was very very clever
, she went to St Haildad and did very well academically.
Meanswhile in London my great grandfather (George Frank Hodson) was living with his parents
, brother Alan and sisters Ruby and Joyce. He worked for the New Zealand
shipping line travelling between the UK and New Zealand. Rev Roberts used
to welcome the officers to his parsonage and lo(dance bar) that is where
Pat and George met and fell in love. They then went on to live here in New Zealand
and have kids including my grandad (Michael Hodson).
